The Student Council in Holy Child School is a group of students who are elected by their classmates to represent the views of all pupils and to improve their school.
This school year 2022/2023 the Student Council is made up of two students from each Fifth Class and seven students in total from Sixth Class.
Aims
What do the Student Council do?
Each Student Council member represents both their own class and are linked with a younger class. They speak with their classes regularly and a suggestion box in the school hall allows the pupils in our school to communicate their ideas or suggestions to the Student Council. Any ideas placed in the box are brought to a council meeting.
The Student Council gathers for a meeting several times each term.
Suggestions are discussed, prioritised and are brought to the attention of school management and to staff meetings. As well as bringing matters to the council for discussion, the members are required to report the outcome of meetings to their own class and their link class.
What activities are they involved in?
The Student Council have been responsible for several positive changes in the
school such as
● Yard Buddy Bench
● Christmas Card fundraiser to raise money for school funds
● Christmas Jumper Day raising money for SVP
● Easter fundraising event for new equipment for the Sensory Room
● Reviewing the school Anti-Bullying Policy, Homework Policy and Mobile Phone Policy
● Helping out at school events.

- To ensure that children have a place to voice their opinion/concerns.
- To encourage children to make suggestions for improvements to our school.
